TEMPE, Arizona – Sun Devil Hockey announced its 2021-2022 season schedule and final season at Oceanside Ice Arena on Tuesday afternoon. The schedule includes three NCAA tournament teams in 2021, an away series of 2021 Frozen Four Minnesota State contestants, four consecutive series against teams that received votes for the top 20 poll, and the most home games of any season to date.

There are 10 home series and eight away series for a 36-game season for the 2021-2022 season.

The season kicks off at home on October 2-3, when the Sun Devils host UMass-Lowell, before the team heads to Mile High City for their first road trip of the season to battle the Pioneers, who finished fifth in the NCHC last season. ASU are 1-2-1 all-time against the Pioneers, taking a win and a draw in the 2019-2020 series in Tempe.

The Sun Devils will play a home series against New Hampshire the following weekend before heading east to Hamilton, New York, to face Colgate, before heading back to the desert for their first year of Division I against St. Thomas to compete in the Tommies.

The season will then ramp up as the Sun Devils will face Quinnipiac, Bemidji State, Denver and Clarkson in four consecutive series. All four teams were either in the ranking or received votes in the last USCHO.com Top 20 poll of last season. The team will complete the first half of the program at Colorado College December 17-18.

ASU will then start the new year with a home series against Cornell, who couldn’t play last year due to the cancellation of the winter sports season by the Ivy League, but took first place in the ECAC in the 2019-2020 season. Next, the Sun Devils will travel back east to face Boston University, which finished in the top 20 last season, and RIT the following weekend. On the program is a series of exhibitions against Lindenwood in Tempe from January 21st to 22nd.

Also on the schedule is a series against Minnesota State, which made it into the Frozen Four last year. The last time the Sun Devils competed against the Mavericks was in Mankato in 2019.

ASU ends the regular season with a home and away series with Alaska-Fairbanks on 4th / 5th. February and 25./26. February. The Sun Devils round off the calendar with a home series against Long Island in their second season as a Division I program.
