Hofstra is hosting the Northeast at the CAA Clash on Saturday night

Hempstead, NY — The Hofstra University men’s soccer team will look to extend their winning streak to three when they host Colonial Athletic Association rivals from the Northeast at Hofstra Soccer Stadium on Saturday night (7 p.m.). Hofstra will honor the 2021 CAA Championship team in a pre-game ceremony and celebrate Alumni Day, recognizing the 1997 team’s 25th anniversary. In addition, Hofstra University will sponsor a pre-game tailgate for university students and a post-game fireworks show presented by Grucci.

If you can’t make it to Hofstra Soccer Stadium, the game will be streamed live on FloFC with audio from WRHU-FM. Live statistics will also be available. Links for both can be found above or on the Men’s Football Schedules page on GoHofstra.com.

The Pride go into play with a 3-2 record overall and a 1-1 result in CAA action. Hofstra enjoyed a 1-0 away win at Monmouth last Saturday night, having previously beaten LIU in matchup. Eliot Goldthorpthe reigning CAA Offensive Player of the Week, has two goals and an assist in his last two games Ryan Carmichael scored the goal against Monmouth. The pair leads Hofstra in the standings with seven and six points, respectively. Wessel Speel scored his first shutout of the season against Monmouth and has a 1.40 goals against average this season.

Northeastern is 2-1-3 in the season and 1-0-1 in league play under head coach Rich Weinrebe in its freshman year. The Huskies clinched a 3-2 win over Harvard last Tuesday. Ryan Massoud leads the team with two goals and two assists, while Tobias Wangerud contributes two goals and one assist. Colby Hegarty has 1.67 goals against average in the season. The Huskies lead the all-time series with Hofstra, 15-11-3. Northeastern won 2-1 in Brookline, Massachusetts last season.

After the game against Northeastern, the Pride will travel to Binghamton, New York for a Tuesday night meeting with the Binghamton University Bearcats. Kick-off is 7 p.m
