Navicky wins literary prize
Navicky wins Literary Book Award
Jefferson Navicky, a 1994 graduate of Cambridge High School, recently won the 2022 Maine Literary Book Award for Poetry for his recently published book, Antique Densities: Modern Parables & Other Experiments in Short Prose. The book was proofread by Navicky’s mother Jen Navicky of New Concord and is dedicated to Navicky’s brother Scott, a 1995 graduate of Cambridge High School.
MVESC Board of Directors meets in Zanesville
The Muskingum Valley Educational Service Center Board of Directors will hold its regular June board meeting Monday at 7:00 p.m. at the Muskingum Valley ESC office, 205 N. Seventh Street, Zanesville.
Plat books now available
Guernsey County Plat books are available. The book contains the standard property map pages showing communities and areas within the county, including property lines for all rural parcels. Along with land tenure maps are the new enhanced LiDAR aerial maps, which show a 3D-like topographical view of the local land.
This updated edition includes information about Guernsey County 4-H and the OSU Extension, a watershed map, a soil map, a rural road map and road index and more. The 2022 Guernsey County Plat Book is available for a $25 donation from the Guernsey County OSU Extension office at 335B Old National Road in Old Washington or the Guernsey County Treasurer’s Office at 627 Wheeling Avenue, Suite 201, Cambridge.
Local athletes speak at the men’s breakfast
NewPointe Community Church is hosting a Guys Talk About It breakfast Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Pritchard Laughlin Civic Center. Guest speakers will be Kevin Ritz and Doug and Drew Donley. Tickets for $10, including breakfast. Register for the event at https://www.newpointe.org/events.
Touch-A-Truck returns to Deerassic
Nearly 50 trucks and service vehicles will be assembled at Deerassic Park on Saturday for the eighth annual Hospice of Guernsey Touch-a-Truck event. Donations are accepted but there is no entrance fee. In addition to the trucks, there will be various basket raffles.
Tickets will be sold on the day of the event for a 50/50 raffle under the main pavilion. Winners will be announced at the end of the event and you do not have to be present to win.

The Cambridge City School Board of Education meets Thursday at 4:30pm at the Garfield Administrative Center, 518 S. Eighth St., Cambridge. At 4:15 p.m. there will be a meeting of the Public Information Commission
