Diane Sorrell, 76, of Bardstown, died on October 20, 2021 at the Baptist Health Hardin Hospital in Elizabethtown. She was born on August 17, 1945 in Bardstown to the late Arthur and Hazel Cox Payton. She was a former publisher’s proofreader. She was a licensed beautician and family hairdresser. She loved to knit, crochet, sew and was famous for her fudge. She was a member of the First Cedar Creek Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Donnie Sorrell; three sons, Deron (Dana) Sorrell and Derek (Katrina) Sorrell, both from Bardstown, and Dwayne (Dr. Aleeta) Sorrell from Louisville; two sisters, Lana Gayle (James) Curtsinger of Radcliff and Pamela Hill of Bardstown; six brothers, Charles Payton from Ashland, Larry (Sue) Payton, Ricky (Vicki) Payton, and Dean (Tammy) Cox, all from Bardstown, Keith Payton from Boston, and Scott (Dede) Cox from Louisville; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The funeral will take place on Monday, October 25, 2021 at 11 a.m. at First Cedar Creek Baptist Church with Bro. Victor Bramlett and Bro. Wally Mantooth officiate. The funeral will take place in the church cemetery.

The tour takes place on Sunday, October 24, 2021, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home and after 9:30 a.m. on Monday in the church.

The family asked for condolences by contributing to the National Kidney Foundation.

The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is responsible for the arrangements.
