Two top 10 finishes for women’s golf at the Jupiter Invitational

BOCA RATON, Florida— Two members of Jacksonville University‘s women’s golf course achieved top-10 finishes at Tuesday’s Jupiter Women’s Invitational.

The team placed seventh in the two-day event at Jonathan’s Landing Golf Club.

Susanne Olivares finished T7 after a stable start and finish on her final lap. She made five pars in a row to open the round and after some up and down moments on her next seven holes, she made par on all but one of her last six of the day. She finished the round with a total of 13 pars, a team high, and earned her first top 10 as a Dolphin.

Casey Powell T10 came home after posting three best birdies of the day. She scored in the red on two of her first four holes of the round and was 2-under through seven. She added another yardage on the back nine and had 10 pars overall to make her first top 10 of the season and fourth of her career. It’s also her first since the same event last season.

Laura Pasalodos had six pars and a birdie and Ashley Huffman had par 12 on her final round to complete the action. Ivete Rodrigues could not compete on Tuesday due to illness.

JU finished the event as top team scorer on par 3s and third best on par 5s. Olivares even shot par on par 3s and was second best in the field on those holes. She was also on par 5s to speed the Dolphins while Powell was JU’s top scorer on par 4s. Olivares had a team-best 37 pars for the week and Powell led with nine birdies.

The team will turn around in less than a week and head to Charleston, SC for the Edisto Island Classic, taking place October 10-11.
