Women’s basketball returns home to meet No. 17 Georgia

Colombia, Mon University of Missouri women’s basketball (13-4, 2-2 SEC) returns to Mizzou Arena Monday night for another top-25 opponent in No. 17 Georgia (13-3, 2-2 SEC ) record. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. CT on the SEC network. Brenda VanLengen and Aja Ellison will be on the phone.

The Tigers are back in action at No. 12 in LSU after a tough 87-85 loss in overtime. After being as much as 13 points behind during regulation, Mizzou took the lead late in the fourth quarter behind a performance of 26 points and 17 rebounds Aijha Blackwell. LSU was able to win the contest in overtime behind a late lay-in by less than 10 seconds.

Mizzou is looking for another signature win after the Tigers’ historic win over No. 1 South Carolina. The win marked the program’s first-ever win over a No. 1 AP team.

junior guard Aijha Blackwell has put up massive numbers in the 2021-22 campaign. She leads the Tigers with 16.6 points per game and the nation with 13.1 rebounds per game. Blackwell has recorded 12 double-doubles in the season that ranks first nationally.

Lauren Hansen and Hayley Frank combined for 13 three-point field goals against LSU. They are the first pair of Mizzou teammates to each have six three-pointers in a single competition.
