S650 series in native TLC outperforms other cards with 1.6X higher endurance;

TAIPEI, Taiwan, July 12, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — ATP Electronics, the global leader in specialized memory and storage solutions, introduces its new 3D Triple Level Cell (TLC) SD and microSD series memory cards S750/S650 designed for the extreme demands of non-stop video recording. They meet the high endurance, low latency, and long-lasting data storage requirements of dashcams and digital video recorders (DVRs), as well as surveillance systems, autonomous vehicles, and other write-intensive applications.

High endurance over 109,000 hours1 of recording time in native TLC
Video evidence can prove critical in many scenarios; Therefore, it is very important that SD/microSD cards record continuously without compromising image quality and integrity. The S650 series can continuously record Full HD video for up to 109,401 hours – far longer than similar cards marketed as “high endurance”. The S650 series is based on 5,000 program/erase (P/E) cycles, which means a 1.6 times higher endurance than typical memory cards with 3,000 P/E cycles. Configured as a pseudo single-level cell (pSLC), the S750 series is based on 60,000 P/E cycles, while typical pSLC memory cards are designed for around 20,000 to 30,000 P/E cycles.

Low Latency: Ready to shoot in
After switching on, Drive Recorders may have to wait a few seconds before they are ready to record. The time between the first read command and the first write command from the host is the “response time”. ATP S650 and S750 series cards require less than 1 second response time while regular cards require 7 to 12 seconds based on real world testing on a DVR at room temperature.

Recording 16MB of data sequentially, ATP S650 cards take less than 0.1 second, saving 50% of write time compared to consumer-rated cards and enabling high-speed backup without data loss.

Proprietary HW/FW design features provide precise reliability
As a true manufacturer with its own hardware/firmware capability, ATP can adapt to a variety of applications to meet customers’ specific application needs and conditions. Based on customers’ applications, ATP does its best to meet the requirements through unique FW and HW design.

  • Auto-Read Calibration (ARC). Over time and constant use, NAND flash memory cells degrade, resulting in voltage shifts that increase bit error rates (BER). When the normal Read Retry function is not sufficient to recover from the errors, a more precise “Auto Read Calibration” (ARC) is applied to ensure data integrity in the event of extreme temperatures or degraded NAND cells.
  • ATP methodology for advanced map analysis. ATP memory cards are IP67/IP57 certified and manufactured using the System-in-Package (SiP) wafer/die process, making component analysis more difficult compared to the SMT (Surface-Mount Technology) process. ATP’s uniquely designed substrate and debug tool make this mission “possible”.
    1. Hardware design developed by ATP – substrate with reserved test pin is available for future component analysis.
    2. Laser Solder Mask Removal – Precise and efficient method of removing the solder mask to reach the reserved test pins on the substrate.
    3. ATP’s own customized debug tool – This is connected to the test pin reserved for HW and then linked to the SW analysis system.
