ISLAMABAD: The Pakistani Journalists’ Union (PFUJ) has taken serious note of the online attack, trolling and harassment of senior journalist and moderator Asma Sherazi by PTI cabinet members, leaders and federal cabinet staff, and condemns and urges the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to draw attention to this.

In a joint statement, PFUJ President Shahzada Zulfiqar and Secretary General Nasir Zaidi condemned the online harassment and trolling by some federal ministers, special assistants and party leaders and workers, saying it was unprecedented that the officials who rule the law and follow the judicial process are unprecedented Involved in online attacks, trolling and harassment against senior journalist Asma Sherazi.

“For this purpose an official Twitter account of the ruling party (PTI) was even used, which shows the support policy of the PTI,” they said. They called on the party’s leadership to take immediate steps to stop online harassment, trolling and attacks on female journalists who are fulfilling their professional responsibilities.

“We ask Prime Minister Imran Khan to intervene and instruct the FIA ​​to investigate Asma Sherazi’s online attackers and trollers and take legal action,” they said. The PFUJ leadership said one could disagree with the writing or opinion of journalists, but no one had the right to harass female journalists and media workers.
