Create your Spotlight Showcases print ad through SendMyAd

SendMyAd’s user-friendly interface allows you to create a print ad in Spotlight Showcases format and display it immediately! Quickly make adjustments and view changes. Once the ad has been submitted, it will be sent to Magazine for specialties.
After you purchase your formatted ad from a sales representative, you can create it at any time up to the close of materials for the issue. To start, go to https://specialtyfood.sendmyad.com to create an account or to log in with your existing account if you have one.
Gather your electronic files: product shot (see specifications below), copy you want (word or text file recommended) – and follow these simple steps… the website will guide you through it.

SUBMISSION DEADLINES

The advertising deadline for Winter ’23 Specialty Food Magazine is November 23rd.

STEP 1CREATE AN AD
After logging into the website, on the dashboard screen (Welcome to Magazine for specialties Ad Portal), click Create an ad.

STEP 2PUBLICATION
Choose Magazine for specialties from the Publication drop-down menu.

STEP 3AD TEMPLATE (CATEGORY)
Click on the template graphic that corresponds to your desired category

  • New product – Products launched within 6 months of the upcoming Winter Fancy Food Show 2023 (July 1, 2022) *Please note that we will verify the product launch date with you
  • Diversity Owned – Exhibiting businesses owned by Women, Black, BIPOC, LGBTQ+, Veterans or Disabled
  • food service – Products that may be sold to foodservice channels (e.g. restaurants, hotels, stadiums and events, universities) Beverages – Ready-to-drink and non-ready-to-drink beverages
  • Fresh and frozen – Packaged products typically offered in refrigerated or frozen departments.
  • grocery store – Packaged products typically offered in center food departments
  • season and holidays: spring and summer for the winter show

STEP 4ISSUE/ADVERTISER/COMPANY
(A) Select the scheduled issue(s) and enter/type in the advertiser name – and select the company name that will appear on the insertion order.
(B) Type or select “Contact Company” from the drop down menu.

STEP 5UPLOAD IMAGE Click on that Upload/edit image Button to upload your product shot and scale/position it within the frame until you are happy with the placement.

DIGITAL IMAGES SPECIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

  • product intake
  • Minimum resolution: 300 dpi/ppi Image size: 1.50″(W) x 1.50″(H)
  • File size limit: maximum 3 MB
  • File format: TIFF or JPG
  • Color: CMYK

For optimal reproduction, images should be of the specified size and resolution. You will receive a warning upon upload if the resolution and/or colors do not meet our specifications.

STEP 6 – ENTER TEXT (PLEASE FOLLOW ALL INSTRUCTIONS)
Copy and paste your text into the required and optional fields – or type (required fields are marked with an asterisk*).

Required fields:

  • *Product name: up to 30 characters
  • *Company name: up to 40 characters
  • *Text text: up to 280 characters
  • *Phone number: up to 38 characters
  • *Website: up to 35 characters
  • *City, State: up to 30 characters

Character count must include spaces between words.

Optional fields:

  • Email address (up to 35 characters)
  • Social Media 1 (up to 35 characters)
  • Social Media 2 (up to 35 characters)
  • sofi Gold or New Product Award; if won in the last 12 months (up to 30 characters)
  • Next Fancy Food Show booth number(s), if applicable (up to 20 characters)

The maximum number of characters and important information are displayed above each field. When pasting text, remove any extra line breaks or other unwanted spaces. all spaces in the field count as characters. When you click in each field to type a copy, the ad is created automatically – it may take a few seconds to appear. Once your final listing is made, read your ad carefully for spelling or typographical errors and review it for overall appearance.

STEP 7 – SUBMISSION
When you’re sure the ad is complete and ready to submit, click Send to Magazine button at the bottom left of the screen. Once you click the Submit button, the ad will be posted and exit the portal. Magazine for specialties will be automatically notified when you post an ad. (Please do not call or email to confirm receipt/submission. You will be contacted later if you have any concerns.)

ATTENTION!
When you meet them The back top left or close the window anytime before clicking Send to Magazine Button, Your entries will NOT be saved!
Any ad created in the portal will be deleted at the end of the session, unless the Send to Magazine button is clicked.

IMAGE TIPS
If the uploaded image is significantly smaller than the window:
Adjust the first dimension shown in the white box on the left by typing a size that is slightly larger, then click in the dimension box on the right to have the system automatically enlarge the image. It may take a few seconds. Repeat the process as needed until the image is a suitable size. Use the arrow keys above the image to move it slightly in the desired direction, or use your mouse (if the mouse gets stuck on the image, release it, click outside the frame and try again. Hold the picture inside the frame). The final image should effectively present your product to readers, so make sure all the important parts of the photo are visible. Upload a different image if you think another works better.

If the uploaded image is significantly larger than the window:
Click on that Fit picture to frame Press and the system will zoom out the image automatically. It may take a few seconds. This may still not render the photo at the ideal size. Therefore, if necessary, adjust the first dimension shown in the left-most box by typing a size that is either slightly smaller (or slightly larger), and then click to the right in the dimension box to automatically resize. Repeat the process as needed until the image size is good. Use the arrow keys above the photo to move it slightly in the desired direction, or use your mouse (if the mouse gets stuck on the picture, release it, click outside the frame and try again. Hold the image inside the frame.) The final image should effectively show your product to readers, so make sure to show all the important parts of the photo. Select and upload a different image if another is more appropriate.

If the uploaded image is a good size but needs cropping or repositioning:
Use your mouse or the arrow keys over the image to move it easily in the desired direction(s).
